Take a Seat at the Judges' Table

Every year, a small group of people are invited to decide who walks away from Basin Burnout with bragging rights. Judging is one of the most sought-after roles at our event, and we keep it that way on purpose: only 100 to 150 judges are seated each year.

We're looking for people who want to give something back to this event and to Midland. Serious foodies are welcome, of course. But some of our best judges are the people who hold this community together: business owners, first responders, teachers, coaches, and neighbors whose names everyone seems to know. If that sounds like you, we'd be glad to have you at the table.

Judge registration opens soon. Please check back here.

A seat at the table is a commitment

Your VIP ticket is our way of thanking you for showing up. Cook teams spend months preparing for these few minutes in front of you, and an empty chair at the judging table affects their scores.

If you register, confirm, and don't show, you may not be able to register as a judge in 2028. If your plans change, just cancel using the link in your confirmation email more than 5 days in advance of our event so someone on the waitlist can take your seat.

Seats are limited and fill in order of registration. Once a category is full, you can still join its waitlist.
